Since 1999, Community Youth Employment Services (CYES) has been providing employment services and information to youth living in Dufferin County and the surrounding area.
Georgian College sponsors Community Youth Employment Services with funding from Service Canada.
MISSION STATEMENT
To give all Dufferin Youth access to resources and support required to make informed employment decisions and enable them to remain employed.
CYS VISION STATEMENT
Community Youth Services will be:
- Primary intake and referral point for youth seeking employment in Dufferin
- Able to develop and deliver new programs to address barriers to employment
- A fully developed team of professionals
- An advocate to raise awareness of youth needs within the community
Accomplishments:
2005-2006
- Over 6,500 Youth Visited our Centre (April 2005 - May 2006)
- Youth Fests '05 and '06; CYES were representatives on the planning committees and attended the events as Festival Volunteers (June 2005 and June 2006)
- Canada Career Week; events were planned and offered by CYES to local youth and service providers (November 2005)

- "Employer Forum" - Employer Services & Apprenticeship Information Evening (November 30, 2005)

- Boston Pizza Job Fair; CYES provided assistance in the planning and job fair event (March 2006)

- New Site!!!; July 2006 CYES moved its services to 51 Townline, Orangeville - "New location - same great staff!"
2004-2005
- SAYES has assisted The Movie Gallery in Shelburne to recruit staff for their new business
- Represented on the Planning Committee and participated in the Mill Street Festival (September 2004)
2003-2004
- Future Fest ’03; week of events to celebrate International Youth Week in Dufferin County
- SAYES assisted Winners, Saan, Don Cherry’s Restaurant, East Side Marios & Dorbict Health Care Services with recruiting staff for their new businesses in Dufferin County
- “Skills Work for Youth” – Employability Skills Summer Camp; acted as a resource information on the area & SAYES delivered a workshop
- Katimavik; SAYES was a member of the Local Katimavik Committee & deliver Interview Preparation workshop to the group of youth
2002-2003
- SAYES assisted Staples Business Depot, Galaxy Cinemas, and A&W Orangeville recruiting staff for their new businesses in Dufferin County
- STOP (Skilled Trades Outreach Project); Youth Service Canada project aimed at promoting the skilled trades to youth in Dufferin County
2001-2002
- “Youth Summit 2001 – Beyond Tomorrow”; collaboration of twelve service providers coordinated a 2-day conference to look at improving services and structures to assist youth
- Dufferin Youth Advisory Network (DYAN); forum for service providers to meet 4 times a year to share information & address shared concerns for the youth in the community
- participated in International Volunteer Week events in Dufferin County
2000-2001
- Building Bridges; Youth Service Canada project responsible for an outreach campaign to youth, including the printing of the handbook “The Source”
- Partner in securing funding for a youth conference & participated in “Beyond the ER – Exploring Health Career Options for the Next Decade” (May 2000)
1999-2000
- Set up Youth Resource Centres in Orangeville, Shelburne & Grand Valley
- Proposed & received funding for the project “Strengthening Community Capacity & Creating Broader Linkage throughout the County”
